Sourcing with StockX in Zelph
Sourcing lets you connect product variants to external suppliers like StockX, so you can list their stock on your store with live pricing and a margin you control — without holding the inventory yourself.
It’s available to retailers on the Consignment plan.
What Sourcing does
- Pulls live cost prices from external marketplaces (currently StockX, with more coming).
- Applies your chosen margin on top to set the selling price.
- Pushes the resulting price and quantity to your connected Shopify stores automatically.
- Refreshes prices on a schedule so your listings stay current.
Where to find it
Open Configuration > Sourcing from the sidebar. You can also add a sourcing link directly from a product or variant in the Products area.
Creating a sourcing link
- Go to Configuration > Sourcing and click Add Sourcing (or open a variant and use the inline Add Sourcing button).
- Choose the product and variant you want to source externally.
- Select StockX as the source.
- Enter the StockX product slug or URL (e.g.
DD1503-100) and click Fetch. Available sizes and live prices appear. - Pick the exact size to link.
- Set your margin % — the markup applied to StockX’s current lowest-ask price.
- Set the quantity you want to expose to your stores.
- Click Create.
Zelph immediately fetches the current cost, applies your margin, and pushes the resulting price and quantity to your connected Shopify stores.
How pricing is calculated
Selling price = StockX lowest-ask price × (1 + your margin %)
For example, if StockX’s lowest-ask is £100 and you set a 20% margin, the variant is listed at £120. As the StockX price moves, your selling price adjusts accordingly on the next refresh.
Refreshing prices
- Automatic: A background job refreshes stale sourcing links regularly so prices stay current.
- Manual: Click the Refresh button next to any link in the Sourcing table to pull the latest price immediately.
How Sourcing interacts with your inventory
- Sourcing creates a virtual inventory entry under a special Zelph Sourcing location.
- You don’t physically hold the stock — when an order comes in, you fulfil it by sourcing the item from StockX.
- If you also have owned inventory for the same variant, Zelph automatically uses whichever is cheaper to maximise your margin.
Currency handling
Zelph picks the right StockX market based on your workspace currency (e.g. GBP → UK market). Prices are converted to your local currency before your margin is applied, so you see consistent pricing throughout.
Removing a sourcing link
Open the link in the Sourcing table and click Remove. The virtual inventory is removed and your connected stores are updated. Any owned inventory you have for the same variant continues to sell as normal.
Tips
- Start with a margin that comfortably covers your handling and fulfilment costs.
- Use the Refresh button if you’ve made a major margin change and want the new price live straight away.
- Sourcing pairs well with Shoe Lookup — see Shoe Lookup if you sell sneakers or shoes.
