How Proposals Work for Suppliers in Zelph
Zelph’s Proposals system allows suppliers and retailers to establish commercial relationships based on mutually agreed commission terms. As a supplier, you can respond to retailer interest — or take the initiative and proactively pitch your products to retailers you'd like to partner with.
🤝 What Is a Proposal?
A proposal defines:
- Which products a retailer can sell
- The agreed commission rate per product (or across the board)
- The pricing the retailer will see (converted to their local currency if needed)
- The basis for live inventory sync and automated order mirroring
Both you and the retailer must approve a proposal for it to go live.
🧭 Where to Start
Go to the Marketplace > Proposals section in your Zelph dashboard
You’ll see:
- Proposals received from retailers
- Proposals you've initiated (if any)
- Click into a pending proposal or click Start Proposal to create one for a retailer you’d like to pitch to
💼 Pitching to Retailers (Supplier-Initiated Proposals)
You can use proposals not just to respond, but to proactively pitch your products.
- Choose a retailer you want to work with
- Select products from your catalogue you’d like to offer them
- Propose your commission terms (either globally or per product)
- Click Save — the retailer will now receive your pitch
✅ This is a powerful way to get your products in front of hand-picked retailers.
🌍 Currency Handling
If you and the retailer operate in different currencies:
- Zelph automatically converts your product prices to the retailer’s currency
- We use interbank exchange rates and round up to the nearest integer
For example:
A $100 USD product will appear to the retailer as £75, not £74.21
🧮 Setting Commission Rates
When editing a proposal (either initiated by you or received from a retailer):
You can define commissions in two ways:
- Global Commission: A single % that applies to all selected products
- Per-Product Commission: Toggle "Commission per product" to enter a custom % or flat commission per item
You’ll see both:
- Your cost price (what you receive)
- The retailer’s final price (what appears in their store)
➕ Selecting Products
In the proposal builder, you’ll find:
Available Products: Your catalogue
→ Click Add next to each item you want to include
Selected Products: The items already included in the proposal
→ Edit commission % or remove items as needed
💡 Use Quick add all to offer your full catalogue instantly.
💾 Submitting & Approving
When you're happy with the proposal:
- Click Save
- The other party (retailer or supplier) will be notified
They can:
- Accept the proposal as-is
- Make changes and counter the offer
Zelph will track this back-and-forth negotiation until both parties approve.
🚀 What Happens After Approval?
Once both sides approve the proposal:
- Zelph:
- Pushes your products into the retailer’s Shopify store(s)
Syncs inventory from your store (or from your inventory settings) into theirs
Automatically updates the retailer's store if:
- You change your inventory
- You change your cost price
- You update product details (title, description, imagery)
📦 Order Fulfilment: Fully Synced
When a customer places an order on the retailer’s store:
- Zelph automatically creates a matching order in your Shopify store
You can fulfill the order directly in Shopify or in Zelph
When you mark it fulfilled and add tracking:
- Zelph updates the order on the retailer’s side
- The customer receives tracking through the retailer’s normal Shopify flow
🧠 You keep using your existing workflows — Zelph handles the rest.
